Carington Harris is an Athlete of the Week for Springfield High School. Earlier in December, Carington threw a season high 183 individual game which helped the team keep the lead heading into the pivotal baker portion of the match. For the baker games, she provided consistency by striking 9 of 12 frames she was responsible for. Her effort and performance propelled the team to a momentum building victory leading into league and tournament play. Coach Noah Badenhop said, "Carington is a dedicated and passionate athlete whose work ethic has set the standard for the program. Every practice she is pushing herself and her teammates to be the best bowlers they can be. She provides encouragement and help to the new girls in the program. She has become the de facto leader of the team, and the team's performance, attitude, and sportsmanship have been positive because of this. Opposing coaches, bowlers, and parents have consistently commented to me how respectful our team is during our matches, which stems from the standard set by Carington.” Congratulations, Carington!

Emma Scheuer is an Athlete of the Week for Springfield High School, representing both the gymnastics and cheerleading programs. In cheer, Emma recently perfected landing her back tuck on the court, which is very different than doing so in practice on a mat. In gymnastics, she had an amazing meet for Senior Night, placing top 6 on every event and finishing 2nd All-Around. Her routines have improved drastically this season, and it really shows how much effort she has been putting in. Cheer coach Megan Cantu said, "Emma is such a fun and amazing senior. She is always trying to push herself to be better and reaches out and asks for corrections. I love watching her progress. She is fun-spirited and lifts everyone on the team up. The varsity cheer team is doing amazing this basketball season keeping the crowd entertained with all of their tumbling, and Emma is not afraid to keep flipping for her fans." Gymnastics coach Alexia Koepke said, "Emma brings great energy to the team and is always positive and encouraging toward everyone around her. She leads by example and helps keep practices fun while still focused. As a captain, she does a great job supporting others and setting a strong tone for the team. She is hardworking and someone everyone can always count on." Congratulations, Emma!

Josefina Kotikova is an Athlete of the Week for Springfield High School. This is Josefina’s first year on the team, and she stepped up in a big way at our first meet of the season. With multiple athletes unable to compete, she filled in without hesitation and exceeded expectations. Josefina placed in the top five on all events, with the highlight being a first-place finish on beam. Coach Alexia Koepke said, "Josefina delivered consistent performances across all events and proved she could be relied on when the team needed her most. She worked through mental blocks during competition and stayed focused under pressure. Her first-place finish on beam stood out, but her ability to step in and contribute strong routines on every event made a difference for the entire team.” Congratulations, Josefina!
