Mr. Matthew Geha has been a dedicated servant of the Holland Springfield community as Superintendent of Springfield Local Schools since August 2017. His tenure is marked by a commitment to excellence, innovation, and the holistic development of students. In recognition of his exemplary leadership and contributions to public education, Mr. Geha was honored in 2022 as one of only four superintendents in Ohio to receive the prestigious Martha Holden Jennings Foundation Outstanding Superintendent Performance Award of Excellence.

Mr. Geha's robust educational background laid the foundation for his career in educational leadership. His pursuit of continuous professional development has equipped him with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate the complexities of modern educational administration.

Professional Journey

Mr. Geha joined Springfield Local Schools as the Principal at Springfield Middle School in August 2004. His leadership and vision quickly became apparent, leading to a series of progressively responsible roles within the district:

  • Assistant Superintendent (August 2015–August 2017): As Assistant Superintendent, he played a crucial role in district-wide planning, policy development, and operational oversight. His responsibilities included curriculum development, staff evaluation, and strategic planning.
  • Director of Federal Programs (August 2012–August 2015): In this role, Mr. Geha oversaw the management and allocation of federal funds, ensuring they were used effectively to support educational initiatives and compliance with federal regulations.
  • Principal, Springfield Middle School (August 2004–August 2012): During his tenure as principal, Mr. Geha implemented numerous programs aimed at enhancing student achievement and fostering a positive school culture.
  • Food Service Director (August 2015–July 2016): Demonstrating his versatility, Mr. Geha took on the additional responsibility of managing the district's food service program, ensuring students had access to nutritious meals.

Prior to his tenure at Springfield Local Schools, Mr. Geha made significant contributions in the Sylvania City School District. His roles there included:

  • Teacher: Mr. Geha began his career in education as a dedicated classroom teacher, where he was known for his innovative teaching methods and ability to inspire students.
  • Athletic Director: In this capacity, he managed the school’s athletic programs, promoting sportsmanship and the importance of physical education.
